2008 HEADLINE ENTERTAINMENT: PURE PRAIRIE LEAGUE
Pure Prairie League entered the music world in 1971 with their self-titled debut album and introduced the world to “pedal steel guitar”. One of the band’s most recognized songs, “Amie”, endured as a classic, is still being played today.

Their debut album also introduced the Norman Rockwell cowboy “Sad Luke”. Other recognizable songs include “Let me Love you tonight” which reached #1 in 1980 and “Two Lane Highway”.

Opening for Pure Prarie League will be Webb Wilder and the Beatnecks. Wilder, "The Last Of The Full Grown Men," is large enough for the big screen, hip enough to star in cult classic B movies, and tough enough to maintain a devoted worldwide fan base through a relentless never ending tour schedule. Of late, Webb has collaborated with Landslide Records, to re-release an expanded version of his legendary It Came From Nashville album, as well as producing an album of all-new material entitled About Time.

Music critics have always warmed up to the Webb Wilder juggernaut. The Associated Press described the band's music and stage performance as "a glorious amalgamation of grunge chords, killer grooves, Screamin' Jay Hawkins theatrics, a healthy sense of humor, and great pop melodies." The band is "part Georgia Satellites, part Dave Edmonds, part Elvis Costello and altogether wonderful," beamed BILLBOARD. It's "full of wit and personality, and devoid of technological or conceptual gimmickry," added the HOUSTON POST.

Admission
Admission to the festival is only $2 per person and free for those under 5 years old.

Why a Chicken & Egg Festival?
According to Alabama Department of Agriculture Commissioner Ron Sparks, agriculture is the number one industry in Alabama. It employs over 476,000 people, which is roughly 21% of the states work force. Furthermore, producing over 1 billion birds a year, Alabama is the #3 producer in the nation.

The Lawrence County Arts Council has once again joined forces with the Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries, Alabama Cooperative Extension Services, Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce and the Alabama Bureau of Tourism and Travel to promote and educate the patrons on the economic impact and health values of poultry and eggs.
