WHAT IS THE LAWRENCE COUNTY ARTS COUNCIL?

The Lawrence County Arts Council is a 501c3 IRS federally recognized community arts organization whose purpose is to serve as an umbrella for the cultural community and to promote, coordinate and develop arts programs for North Alabama for the benefit of artists and the community at large.
What is the mission and goals of the Lawrence County Arts Council?
It is the hope of the Lawrence County Arts Council to nurture and create initiatives that stimulate growth and development of the art disciplines, linking artist and the community. We operate with the firm belief that the arts foster the health of a dynamic society, stimulate economic development and improve the quality of life for all residents. The Lawrence County Arts Council will be dedicated to encouraging a vital, creative community by providing everyone with exposure to, education in, and enjoyment of a wide variety of art and folk culture. The Lawrence County Arts Council will strive to bring the highest quality professional artist from venues throughout the United States to our community. The Lawrence County Arts Council is a volunteer organization with no paid employees.

How is the Lawrence County Arts Council funded?
The Lawrence County Arts Council will utilize many avenues for securing funding, including but not limited to grants, corporate donations, festivals, bequest and financial support from local government. The major funding source today is the Alabama Chicken and Egg Festival. Monies raised from the event will go toward meeting our goals by funding proposed activities.

What does the Lawrence County Arts Council do with the money raised?
Keeping in mind that festival revenue may fluctuate from year to year depending on the weather and the economy, the proposed activities of the Lawrence County Arts Council include but are not limited to the following: Art fairs, festivals, workshops and classes, arts in education, artist residence, musician exchange, songwriters workshop, guest artist lectures, gallery and on-line shopping for local artist and craftsmen, community theatre, concert promotion, literary promotions, and dance events.

The Lawrence County Arts Council is devoted to ensuring that the arts are accessible regardless of age, ability, race or economic status.
